Behind The Bar For August 2014

Ommegang Three PhilosophersI love beer. Love it. And whiskey. Cause whiskey is awesome.  Hell, come to think of it, I’m a big fan of most liquid libations. I started a project last year where I kept track of  the amount and frequency of my drinking.  I’m calling that project “Behind The Bar”. This post will be updated during the month of August 2014 as I have a night out or a cocktail at home.  Stay tuned!

    Dinner at home with the family kicking off the birthday weekend.
  2. Mom & Dad’s – 8.2.2014
    Perfect Manhattan x 2
    Went to Mom & Dad’s for family dinner which included some SILLY Delmonico steaks, salmon, roasted peppers, etc. Great time.
  3. Pickle Bill’s – 8.3.2014
    Summer Shandy x 2
    Went to Pickle Bill’s to celebrate A’s birthday after a day at Mentor Headlands (which I’d never been to). They’ve got all you can eat crablegs / lobster on the menu which we didn’t get because we’d just gone to Lure last week. Good food, but probably wouldn’t go back if I wasn’t going for the AYCE options.
  4. Chagrin Valley Country Club – 8.7.2014

    Went to the club for the annual summer swim banquet.  Good buffet and awards program followed by swimming under the lights for the boys. Great evening.

    Couple of ice cold beers with dinner always hits the spot.

    Had the Magnes family over for grilling & s’ mores by the fire.  Wasn’t driving so I was drinking. Monday morning was rough.

    Started off the 7th annual PA Quit Meet with a bang on Friday night. Great friends, great time.

    More of the same… just ALL day. Actually took it easy on the drinking / eating front. Just a nice easy pace all day as I visited with fellow quitters.

    Took it easy after a weekend of eating / drinking, but Marko came over to watch SummerSlam. How can you watch a PPV without a beer or two?

    Went to dinner with Erik & Jenny sans kiddos which was awesome. 2 JDs and 2 beers was just about perfect. Had elk flank steak which had a great flavor but was “tough”.

    Had a guy come over to purchase the workout machine that’s been sitting and gathering dust for years. This was set up via Craig’s List. Wife naturally left the house when he was there so I was left alone. Had a drink by myself to celebrate avoiding the Craig’s List Killer 🙂

    Went to the Harry Buffalo to attend a happy hour for a co-worker who’s moving groups. Company paid beers?  Win.
  13. Old Firehouse Winery (Geneva) – 8.29.2014
    Wine sampler / Cabernet
    Celebrated our 16 year anniversary with a trip to a winery in Geneva. Sampler of dry / sweet wines followed by a glass of the Cab.
  14. Georgetown Restaurant – 8.30.2014

    More anniversary celebrations tonight at Georgetown. Our first time there and it was great. Sat outside on the patio followed by dancing at VOSH next door.
  15. Mom & Dad’s – 8.31.2014
    Perfect Manhattan x 2
    Had a Labor Day cookout with the family. Ribs, chicken, etc. Great way to end the summer.
