WrestleMania 30 Beeramid

Behind The Bar For April 2014

WrestleMania 30 BeeramidI love beer. Love it.

And whiskey. Cause whiskey is awesome.

I started a project last year where I kept track of  the amount and frequency of my drinking.  I’m calling that project “Behind The Bar”.

This post will be updated during the month of April 2014 as I have a night out or a cocktail at home.  Stay tuned!

  1. Winking Lizard (Bedford) / Burntwood Tavern (Chagrin) – 4.4.2014
    Beer / Jack Daniel’s
The beginning of WrestleMania weekend 2014 started out with a bang.  Pip got into town around noon and we headed to the Winking Lizard to watch the Indian’s Home Opener.  It was delayed for HOURS due to weather so we… kept drinking. After the game, we grabbed dinner at the Burntwood Tavern in Chagrin on the way to a screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Marko.
  2. Hoppin Frog Tasting Room / Thirsty Dog Brewing / BW3 – 4.5.2014
    Beer
If yesterday started out with a bang, we took today to 11.  We spent a couple of hours at Hoppin Frog having an AMAZING tasting session.  Both Pip and I tried 5 different beer samples and then switched so we were able to sample 10 each.  We then headed to Thirsty Dog for more tasting action but after 4 each there the beers really just started to run together.  We decided to leave there and take a beer break at Best Buy, but followed that up with dinner (and more beer) at BW3.
  3. WrestleMania 30 Beeramid – 4.6.3014
    Beer (lots)
The day I look forward to all year. Beeramid / WrestleMania day! It was REALLY rough last year so we were quite worried, but I’m thrilled to say we planned things a bit better this year (and Marko chipped in big time) to make it a relatively easy task.  Not only did we take down 30 beers between the 3 of us (I think I notched 13) but Pip and I even had a beer before we started while we were waiting on our wings at BW3.
  4. Home Sweet Home – 4.11.2014
    Perfect Manhattan x 2 / Yuengling x 2
Had the Rosenfeld’s over for dinner and I’d had enough of a break to enjoy some whiskey before dinner and some beer after.
  5. Mom & Dad’s House – 4.12.2014
    Perfect Manhattan x 2
Went to Mom & Dad’s house for a Sunday family dinner. Got there and asked Dad if he wanted a drink and he said, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask me that!
  6. Smith House – 4.16.2014
    Gentleman Jack x 2
Celebrated Easter & Kent’s birthday tonight as he’ll be working on Sunday (Easter / his birthday).  Mom had a bottle of Gentleman Jack waiting.
  7. Winking Lizard (Bedford) – 4.17.2014
    Beer
Had a pretty trying day at work.  Have tomorrow off and we had early release (though I left at 5).  Stopped at the Lizard to knock 2 off the tour (62 & 63 I believe)
  8. Timothy Lane – 4.19.2014
    Beer
Nothing like a little random day drinking!  Was making dinner and popped a Hop For Teacher courtesy Mr. Matt over WrestleMania weekend.  Then went outside to find the boys and they were down at Giada’s house so I grabbed a 4 pack of Indian ale and shared a couple with Jay.  Perfect.
  9. Smith House – 4.20.2014
    Whiskey
Back to the in-laws for Easter.  Did some sippin throughout the day on some Gentleman Jack and another bourbon which I can’t for the life of me remember.  I’ll update the post the next time I’m over there.
  10. Winking Lizard (Independence) – 4.24.2014
    Beer x 2
Stopped for a quick 2 beers at the Lizard before heading to an advance screening of The Quiet Ones. #64 and #65 on the Tour if I’m remembering correctly.
  11. Home Sweet Home – 4.26.2014
Hop For Teacher / Jack Daniel’s
Crazy busy Saturday which included bringing up all the outdoor furniture for the summer.  Had a beer with dinner (which was an awesome home made Mexican pizza) and followed that up with a JD on the rocks while we roasted marshmallows by the first fire of the year.
  12. Home Sweet Home / TGI Friday’s – 4.27.2014
Rail Splitter IPA, Half Court IPA, Rebel IPA
Doing some food prep during the day and had a couple of beers.  Both of these were from Pip so they were local Indiana brews.  He’s a big IPA fan so both of these were a bit more bitter than I typically go for but they were quite good.  After going to the hospital to meet Madilynn for the first time, we went to Friday’s for dinner where I ended the day with a Rebel IPA draft.
  13. Winking Lizard (Bedford) – 4.29.2014
    Wittekerke, Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen
Went to dinner at the Lizard which was supposed to be our last dinner out as a family before the new one arrives (as of this writing that still hasn’t happened).  Ironically, the in-laws were there so we had dinner with them on the patio.  Knocked a couple off the tour.
  14. The Clevelander / Johnny’s Little Bar – 4.30.2014
    Jack Daniel’s, Summer Shandy, Oberon
Went to the #CLEtweetup at the Clevelander.  Had a couple of whiskeys on the rocks and then a Shandy.  Walked over to Johnny’s afterword and had an Oberon.
