Behind The Bar For July 2014

Big Ass BeerI love beer. Love it. And whiskey. Cause whiskey is awesome.  Hell, come to think of it, I’m a big fan of most liquid libations. I started a project last year where I kept track of  the amount and frequency of my drinking.  I’m calling that project “Behind The Bar”. This post will be updated during the month of July 2014 as I have a night out or a cocktail at home.  Stay tuned!

  1. Neighborhood – 7.2.2014
    Pacifico / Yuengling
    Nothing like a little mid-week random drinks with a neighbor to get the holiday celebrations kicked off right. Hadn’t talked to Jay Magnes in quite some time so I wandered down. He offered a Pacifico and that turned into several Yuenglings after a brief trip home to retrieve them.
  2. Bongiorno’s Ristorante – 7.3.2014

    Wife and I signed on the dotted line to purchase our new house tonight (YIKES!)  Super excited and a little nervous.  Went out sans kiddos to celebrate over a nice dinner.
  3. Chagrin Valley Country Club – 7.4.2014

    Went to the club to celebrate the 4th with the family. Not sure why but for the 2nd time in 2 years I’ve gone with Maker’s as opposed to my traditional Jack. *shrugs*
  4. Home Sweet Home – 7.5.2014
    Ommegang Three Philosophers / Yuengling
    Stayed at home and had a campfire with the family. Weather was absolutely gorgeous. Ended up going next door to Gelinas where they were shooting off fireworks for the kids.  Great evening. The Ommegang was a gift from Dan Lucky YEARS ago (had a date of 2005 on it) – It was outstanding.
  5. Chagrin Valley Country Club – 7.6.2014
    Blue Moon x2 / Merlot
    Rounding out 5 days of consecutive drinking… Went back to the club for lunch after L’s baptism with family/ friends. Great day all around.

    Had our monthly tweetup at the Lizard this month. Great group (Brad, Casey, Crystal, Tami, Amie & Bree).

    Hadn’t really planned on having a drink tonight, but LeBron made his decision to come home so had to celebrate!

    Celebrating Dad & Marko’s birthday.  Been drinking too much lately and while they were glorious, I think I need to slow down. I’m fat.

    Beer / Whiskey
    Stopped at the Lizard on the way back from a client meeting to have a quick beer. Had Christmas In July at the pool in the evening (whiskey x 2).  Great night.
  11. Lincoln Tap House – 7.18.2014
    Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale x3 / Jack Daniel’s
    Went to a happy hour at Lincoln Tap House for a departing co-worker. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale will knock you on your ass… It sure did for me. Yikes.
  12. El Campesino – 7.20.2014
    Dos Equis
    Went to El Campesino for dinner with the family. Sat on the patio on a beautiful evening and washed my enchiladas down with a 22 oz. Dos Equis.
  13. Shaker Heights Country Club – 7.22.2014

    The B Championship was held at Shaker. C-Man was swimming (and did awesome). Got a Jack on the rocks with olives… and God DAMN did they give a generous pour!
  14. Ruby Tuesday (Dubois, PA) – 7.25.2014
    Yuengling
    On our way to the annual family clam bake / reunion this weekend. Stopped to spend the night in Dubois and hit Ruby’s for dinner.
  15. Big Bass Lake / Mara’s – 7.26.2014
    Beer (Miller Lite, Liquid Hero Hero Weizen)
    Family clam bake / reunion day. Tremendous to see everyone. 25 people, 21 dozen clams. Danny, Mark & I had to polish off the last 8 dozen by ourselves!
  16. Westin Cleveland Downtown – 7.29.2014
    Red wine x 2 / Beer
    Went to a Cleveland.com Tweetup after work. Had a couple of glasses of wine. Sort of a bust, but got at least one business contact out of it.

    Went to the Lizard with the boys to celebrate my 8 years & Steve’s 3 years (also on July 24th).

    Our annual birthday dinner out for all you can eat crab legs.  Had a wonderful time sitting on the patio with some nice adult (no kids present) conversation with HHB.
