241 – Rededication With A Partner
So I got on the scale today… and it wasn’t good. But it wasn’t a surprise either. I had my first drink of the month on Thursday when I went out to dinner with a client and then went to watch the Browns game with some friends. I then followed that up with more drinks yesterday after work during happy hour.
I’d eaten pretty poorly on Thursday and on Friday morning as well (with stops at McDonalds both days, pizza for lunch on Thursday, more pizza yesterday morning, etc.) But then I had the call.
I was talking with an old friend via text – we’ll call him GK. GK and I have known one another for the better part of a decade through our trials and tribulations with quitting dip. Anyhow, out of the blue he tells me that he’s struggling with his weight as well and that he’s going no / low carb for the rest of the year and wanted to know if I’d join him on that journey. I’m in and I’m excited about it.
I know that I won’t be able to completely cut out carbs especially when it comes to alcohol (beer and whiskey are my friends 😉 ) but I’m committed to him and to the low(er) carb journey through the end of the year. As I write this post I’m sitting in Panera doing some work. For the first time since I can remmeber, I did NOT order a bagel this AM. Because I’m commited to my weight loss plan and to my friend. And I’m excited about it.
